RADFORD, Va. - UNC Asheville freshman Alessandra Troncoso set a meet record in the Breaststroke to highlight the Bulldogs performance at the Highlander Invitational Friday night.
Troncoso finished first in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:05.08 and that set a new meet record. Chole Carr finished third in the event with a lifetime best performance of 1:07.73.
The Bulldogs began the evening with a solid sixth-place finish in the 200 Medley Relay. The relay team of Galen Broido, Chole Carr, Alessandra Troncoso and Ashley Ireland posted a time of 1:52.92.
In the 400 Individual Medley, Kristin Lawson won the B final as she dropped eight seconds from her morning swim to earn ninth place with a time of 5:00.62. In the championship heat, Broido took third with a time of 4:37.14. She improved her lifetime best by more than two seconds in the event.
The final event Friday night was the 800 Freestyle Relay. The Bulldog A team of Broido, Troncoso, Ireland and Lawson finished in seventh place with a time of 8:18.11.
Asheville is in fifth place in the meet with 253 points.
"I thought tonight's session went very well," stated Bulldog coach Elizabeth Lykins. "We had some great times from a lot of different people. We continue to improve with each meet."
The meet will conclude on Saturday.
