ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women’s swimming team heads to Davidson on Saturday for a tri-meet with the Wildcats and VMI. Saturday’s meet starts at 1 p.m.

The Bulldogs swam well last week in a 145.5 to 105.5 loss at Marshall. Asheville posted five first-place finishes last Saturday. Alessandra Troncoso and freshman Alexandra van Dorsten each won two events for the Blue & White. Ashley Ireland won one event for the Bulldogs.


Troncoso took the 100 breastroke with a time of 1:07.15. She won the 200 breastroke as she posted a time of 2:24.71.


Van Dorsten earned first-place finishes in the 100 freestyle (54.69) and 200 freestyle (1:58.55).  She finished second in the 100 butterfly (1:02.28).


Ireland took home first in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.88.


“We are excited to race again this weekend, as this new team is getting better with each performance,” stated head coach Elizabeth Lykins. “Our team's progression is exciting to watch and welcome the opportunity for fast racing against both teams on Saturday.”


Asheville hosts its first home meet next Friday (Nov. 8) against Radford at Justice Center Pool starting at 5 p.m.
