ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women’s swimming team will host its final home meet and celebrate Senior Day Friday afternoon at Justice Center Pool when the Bulldogs host Brenau University starting at 5 p.m.
Prior to the meet, the school will honor Hallie Gillespie and Kristen Lawson as the duo get ready to swim for the final time at Justice Center Pool.
“We are excited to recognize Hallie Gillespie and Kristen Lawson as the inaugural graduates of the UNC Asheville Swimming program,” stated Bulldog coach Elizabeth Lykins. “Our home crowd provides an incredible atmosphere to honor these two ladies. It will be a competitive meet as we close out the home dual meet schedule and prepare for conference championships in only three weeks.”
Gillespie ranks in the school’s Top 10 All-Time performers list in the 200 backstroke, 500 freestyle and 1,000 freestyle.
Lawson is the school’s record-holder in the 100 backstroke. She is a part of four school-record holding relays. They are the 200, 400, 800 freestyle and 400 medley relays.
Brenau has enjoyed a successful year and has finished in first place in six different meets this season.
