Each week the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) of UNC Asheville will highlight a student-athlete who has achieved success off the field, court or course. This week we are highlighting Melanie Kulesz, a rising senior on the track and cross country teams as well as our SAAC secretary for the second year running.

This summer Melanie will be juggling two jobs as well as training for the upcoming season. She will also be starting on her undergraduate research project with Dr. Mary Lynn Manns. Her research will explore the answer to the question, "What drives people to want to lead change?"

This past year Melanie volunteered at Emma Elementary School where she worked with the program, "English as a Second Language". She also spent time working with the young people at Eliada Homes.

After graduation Melanie will be attending graduate school in order to earn her MBA.
