Editors Note: With the 2012-13 school year behind us, UNC Asheville's student-athletes will be providing us write-ups to allow everyone to get to know them a little better. Today we meet volleyball player Alex Stewart.

Alex Stewart is a rising senior on the UNC Asheville Volleyball Team. The local player from Hendersonville, North Carolina will be going into her senior season with more than 1000 digs, being a huge component of UNC Asheville’s defensive play. Anticipating graduating this upcoming December, she will be graduating with a Management degree with a concentration in Business Administration. After college, she hopes to get a job in the business field and go to Graduate School to get her Masters Degree in Business Administration.

Outside of the court, she is very involved with coaching at the Biltmore Volleyball Academy. For the past five years, she has volunteered at Eliada Homes and Elks Christmas Charities. This summer, she plans on lifeguarding and interning at the office for the Hendersonville Elks Lodge. She will be taking a summer class to ensure that she can graduate a semester ahead of schedule. When she isn’t working, coaching, or playing volleyball, she will enjoy going to the lake frequently to de-stress.

Alex chose to attend UNC Asheville for many reasons. “Being such a family-oriented person, I picked UNC Asheville because it is an easy drive back to Hendersonville. I have always loved the mountains, so I plan on staying around this area for many years to come. I’m amazed at how many things there are to do around here for fun.” Her dream job would be to work in Human Resources for a hospital or be a pharmaceutical sales rep. A fun fact about Alex is that she has a twin brother who goes to UNC Asheville’s mountain rival: Western Carolina University.
