ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville senior volleyball player Anna Moore is this week’s winner of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Athlete of the Week Athlete of the Week.

Each week the school selects a BCBSNC Athlete of the Week upon their performance from the previous week's action. Today's selection makes the second time Moore has earned the award this fall.

Moore helped lead the Bulldogs to two important Big South Conference victories over the weekend. The Raleigh native enjoyed excellent matches in a 3-1 victory over Winthrop Friday night and a 3-0 triumph over Presbyterian College Saturday afternoon.

In the victory against Winthrop, Moore had a team-high 12 kills, six blocks and two service aces as the Bulldogs rallied for the win. On Saturday, Anna had a match-high 13 kills, four blocks and three service aces. She had 13 kills in 19 attempts and hit .684 for the match.

The two wins pushed Asheville’s record to 12-8 overall and 3-2 in league action. The 12 wins matches the Bulldogs’ win total from last season.

Moore and the Bulldogs play twice this week. Asheville hosts North Carolina A&T on Thursday night at Justice Center starting at 7 p.m. Thursday’s match will be the team’s annual Dig Pink match to support the fight against breast cancer. The Bulldogs are back in league play Friday night at Gardner-Webb.
