Ian Graham enjoyed an excellent baseball career at UNC Asheville and will graduate this December. This summer he’s helping out in another sport.

Ian is an intern with the NBA’s Charlotte Bobcats. He moved to Charlotte a few weeks after his career finished up in May and has been working hard ever since. Graham has been working with the Bobcats Human Resources Department.

“I’m doing something different every day, and I’m really enjoying the experience,” stated Graham. “Basically, I’m recruiting other interns to work for the Bobcats plus doing background check on applicants.”

The internship came about with the help of Athletics Director Janet Cone plus the fact the Sherrill Center and Kimmel Arena hosted the Bobcats training camp last October and will host them again this October.

“I really appreciate Janet Cone helping me out with this,” said Graham. “She made the connection for the Bobcats and it has worked out great for me.

“Needless to say, it’s really a great experience working with a profession team,” added Graham. “The Bobcats have been really good to me so far and I’m learning so much. This will mean more than something to put on a resume. What I’m learning here in Charlotte will help me no matter what I do after I graduate.”

Graham was a four-year starter for the Bulldogs as a catcher. He played in 96 games for the Blue & White, earning 95 starts. Ian scored 93 career runs, had 173 hits, 36 career doubles, four home runs and 91 RBIs. He earned 98 career walks, third best in school history. His 36 career doubles is tied for 10th all-time in that category at UNC Asheville. He finished his career with a .285 batting average
