Editors Note: With the 2012-13 school year behind us, UNC Asheville's student-athletes will be providing us write-ups to allow everyone to get to know them a little better. Today we meet men's soccer player Joey Cutting.
Joey Cutting is a rising junior on the UNC Asheville’s Men’s Soccer Team. The center midfielder from Waynesville is looking forward to a successful fall season with his fellow Bulldog teammates. Planning on graduating in May of 2015, he is seeking a Management degree with a Marketing Concentration. He can’t wait to see what his future has in store for him after graduating.
Recently elected president of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee, Joey plans on making a huge contribution to the lives of all athletes on the UNC Asheville campus. He wants to stay involved in various campus organizations, as well as off-campus organizations in the community. In the past, he has volunteered for Eliada Homes and the Open Door Soup Kitchen in his hometown. This summer, he will be working at Navitat Canopy Adventures as an Assistant Canopy Tour Guide in nearby Barnardsville.
Joey chose UNC Asheville because, “It just felt right. The school was very appealing because it is close to my hometown, has small classes, and is in a mountain environment filled with outdoors activities. Also, I knew that getting the UNC Asheville education would help me develop into the person that I want to be.” A dream job for him would be to open a gym/ nutrition store and name it “Cutting-Edge Fitness”.
