ASHEVILLE,  N.C. - The UNC Asheville Bulldog Athletic Association (BAA) will host the 2013 BAA Golf Classic presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina on Monday, August 26th and Tuesday, August 27th at the Country Club of Asheville. This year’s tournament will honor former Bulldog head men's basketball coach Eddie Biedenbach.  The annual event raises scholarships for UNC Asheville’s student-athletes.

The tournament will expand to two days, with an alumni golf outing on Monday and a celebrity tournament on Tuesday.   On Monday evening, there will be a Celebrity “Roast & Toast” to honor Coach Biedenbach for his contributions to the university and community during his 17 years of service.  The Celebrity “Roast & Toast” will be held at in the Kimmel Arena at the Wilma M. Sherrill Center.

"This tournament is a wonderful way to help raise the necessary funds for student –athlete scholarships at UNC Asheville and to honor our former coach, Eddie Biedenbach,” said BAA  Board President Wilma Sherrill.  “It gives the community an opportunity to thank him for the great accomplishments he achieved, not only on the court but in developing leaders for tomorrow.”

The 2012 Eddie Biedenbach Golf Classic raised more than $80,000 for scholarships, and the BAA hopes to surpass that figure.

Monday’s golf will be open to former Bulldog student-athlete alumni, staff, and coaches.  Tuesday’s round will be open to the public.
