ASHEVILLE, N.C. - More than 50 former student-athletes came back to campus on Saturday as the UNC Asheville Athletics Department celebrated Alumni Day.
UNC Asheville hosted four athletic events on Saturday with cross country in the morning, men's and women's soccer in the afternoon and finishing up with volleyball Saturday night.
The alumni attended a reception at Laurel Forum prior to the volleyball match where they were addressed by Chancellor Anne Ponder, Director of Athletics Janet R. Cone, Alumni Director Ann Martin, former men's soccer player and assistant coach Jonathan Alexander and former women's basketball player Dawn Snyder Funderburk.
Alumni were welcomed in between the soccer matches and at the volleyball match.
In addition, many of the alumni went to Buffalo Wild Wings following the Bulldogs exciting volleyball win over Liberty for fellowship and food.
Any former student-athletes who are interested in serving on a committee headed up by Betsy Blose, Assistant Director of Compliance and Student Services, to help brainstorm for future events, please email her at email@example.com. This group will be meeting sometime in December.
Mark your calendars for Homecoming February 21-23. We will be having another alumni gathering.
