ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville’s student-athletes enjoyed another outstanding academic year in the classroom during the 2013-14 year.
The cumulative GPA for Bulldog student-athletes for both fall and spring semesters was a 3.038. More than 60 percent of the student-athletes maintained a 3.0 GPA or above during the year with 122 accomplishing the feat in the spring semester.
Eleven of Asheville’s 13 sports maintained a 3.0 GPA or above this past year (both indoor and outdoor track and field were combined). Topping the list was women’s track and field with a 3.543 GPA, while women’s tennis was right behind them with a 3.479 GPA. The men’s sport with the highest GPA was tennis with a 3.198 mark.
This past semester had 47 student-athletes make the Dean’s List (3.5-3.99 GPA), while 11 Bulldogs maintained a perfect 4.00 GPA and named to Chancellor’s List.
Here is a list of the 11 Asheville student-athletes and the sport they played who made the Chancellor’s List. They are Amy Castle (Women’s Track & Field), Keller Dixon (Women’s Soccer), Zoe Hamel (Women’s Tennis), Anna Moore (Volleyball), Meredith Foster Ristic (Women’s Track and Field), Caroline Sherrer (Women’s Tennis), Tarrah Tate (Women’s Soccer), Cheyenne Tavanna (Volleyball), Alexandra van Dorsten (Women’s Swimming), Rachel Wells (Volleyball) and Giacomo Zilli (Men’s Basketball).
