ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Tonight’s broadcast of the UNC Asheville-Chattanooga women’s soccer game on the Big South Network will be the first of 30 fall home athletic events that will be broadcast by Asheville’s athletic department’s communication office. All of the Big South Network’s games are broadcast free of charge.


The Bulldogs and Lady Mocs will kick-off at 6 p.m. with the pre-game show starting at 5:50 p.m. Men’s soccer coach Matt Kern will provide color on tonight’s broadcast.  


In addition, many of the Bulldogs fall sports Big South Conference league road games will be broadcast by the Big South Network. You can see a complete schedule of broadcasts on under the multimedia tag.


Now in its second year as a free service, the Big South Network’s audience increased threefold in 2013-14 for live and on-demand offerings of the more than 900 events produced by the Big South Conference and its member institutions.


All BSN productions utilize top-quality broadcast standards, including the NewTek TriCaster production platform with updated and enhanced Live Text graphics and a three-camera system of Sony NXCAMs to capture all the live action in high definition, along with upgrades to crew and talent communications for even more polished productions this year.  All broadcasts include TV commercial spots and instant replay capability, allowing member institutions to generate postgame highlight packages at the conclusion of broadcasts.  In addition, the Big South Network features tailored Twitter feeds running alongside Big South Network video and buttons allowing fans to share site content directly into their own Facebook or Twitter accounts. 


The first men’s soccer broadcast will come a week from today (Aug. 29) when the Bulldogs host USC Upstate. Volleyball’s first broadcast comes on Sept. 16th when Asheville entertains Western Carolina.
