ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men’s and women’s cross country teams will begin preparations for the 2014 season with workouts on Monday.
The Bulldog women’s squad finished in third place in last year’s Big South Conference championship, while the men’s team took sixth.
Both teams could be even better in 2014.
“We like the depth we have this year with both teams,” commented Asheville coach Jesse Norman. “We have a solid group of returners with each team plus we believe we’ve added some freshmen to push the upper classmen. We’re excited about the possibilities of both clubs in 2014.”
Asheville opens the 2014 season in Cullowhee at the Western Carolina Classic on Aug. 29. The Bulldogs will have a home meet for the third straight year when they host the Asheville Cross Country Carnival at Asheville Christian Academy on Sept. 20 starting at 9 a.m.
“We’re really glad to have a home meet again this year,” admitted Norman. “Both of our teams love to run in front of family and friends, and we’ve got a great field for this year’s event.”
