ASHEVILLE, N.C. – For the second straight year, the UNC Asheville men’s and women’s cross country schedule will feature a home meet as head coach Jesse Norman announced the 2013 schedule today.

Asheville opens the 2013 season at Western Carolina when they compete in the Catamount Classic on Aug. 30. On Sept. 14, the Bulldogs host the Asheville Cross Country Carnival. The meet will take place at Asheville Christian Academy.

“Our home meet looks like it will be exciting with Big South & Southern Conference schools attending,” stated Norman. “I’m expecting our home meet to be our first big test of the year.”

The Bulldogs compete next in the Big South Preview at VMI on Sept. 21. Asheville’s following two meets will be in Boone. The Bulldogs will race in the ASU Open on Oct. 5 and then take part in the Blue Ridge Open on Oct. 18.

The Blue & White will be back at VMI for the Big South Championships on Nov. 2 with the NCAA Regional at the University of Virginia on Nov. 15.

“I’m really excited about this year’s schedule,” declared Norman. “Our schedule will give our student-athletes the best opportunity to grow into collegiate racing since we'll be fairly young on both sides this year.

“Hopefully, the conference meet being hosted by VMI on a hilly course will play to our strengths this year,” added Norman.
