ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men’s and women’s cross country team will have a home meet on Saturday when the Bulldogs host the Asheville Cross Country Carnival starting at 9 a.m. Saturday’s meet will be held at Asheville Christian Academy.
The meet will consist of both high school and collegiate teams. The college events will go first as the men’s 6K race starts at 9 a.m., followed by the women’s 5K race at 9:45 a.m. The boys’ race starts at 10:20, followed by the girls at 11 a.m.
The collegiate teams running will be Appalachian State, Charleston Southern, Gardner-Webb, Lees-McRae, Limestone, Presbyterian College, Radford, Voorhees Western Carolina, Winthrop and Wofford.
On the high school side, Asheville, Asheville Christian Academy, Avery County, Franklin, Madison, Reynolds, Robbinsville, Trailblazers and Veritas, are scheduled to run.
“We’ve had a great week of training,” stated Bulldog coach Jesse Norman. “Our kids are really excited to be running close to home in front of their fans and friends. We’ve got a real competitive field and the weather is supposed to be nice. We’re looking forward to Saturday!!!
Here are the directions to Asheville Christian Academy:
• Take I-40 (East from Asheville).
• Take the Swannanoa Exit (# 59).
• Follow signs to US Highway 70 (take left at top of exit).
• At the traffic light, turn left onto US Highway 70.
• Pass the Ingles shopping complex on your left.
• At the first traffic light, turn right onto Riverwood Road.
Entrance to the ACA campus is on the left (park in gravel lot)
