ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men’s and women’s cross country teams will compete in six different meets this fall, including a home meet.

Head Coach Jesse Norman announced the 2014 schedule today and is looking forward to the upcoming season.

“We like our schedule and believe it will challenge us and prepare us for the Big South Conference championships at the end of the year,” stated Norman. “Both of our teams bring back a lot of experience and should be capable of having good seasons.”

The Bulldog harriers open the 2014 season at Western Carolina on Aug. 29th when they take part in the Catamount Classic.

Two weeks later (Sept. 13), Asheville travels to Gardner-Webb for the Big South Preview.

For the third straight year, the Bulldogs will have a home meet when they host the Asheville Cross Country Carnival on Saturday, Sept. 20. The meet will be held at the Asheville Christian Academy course with the women’s race being a 5K event, while the men’s will be an 8K race.

"We're pleased to have a home meet again this year," declared Norman. "Our kids really enjoy running in front of their friends and families."

In October, both teams travel to Spartanburg for the Upstate Invitational on Oct. 4 before heading to Chattanooga with the Front Runner Invitational (Oct. 18). The meet at Chattanooga will be the final race prior to the Big South Championship.

This year’s Big South Meet will be at Gardner-Webb on Saturday, Nov. 1st.
