FARMVILLE, Va. – The UNC Asheville men’s soccer goes on the road Saturday afternoon to face the Longwood Lancers in a Big South Conference battle on Longwood Stadium starting at 2:30 p.m.

The Bulldogs (3-6-0, 0-1-0 BSC) look to snap a frustrating three-game losing streak that has seen Asheville lose all three matches by just one goal. Each loss has seen the opponent score the winning goal in the second half.

Longwood (1-4-3, 0-0-1 BSC) has earned some impressive ties this season with a 2-2 tie against High Point in league action and tying ACC foe Pittsburgh.

“We have been working hard on creating and finishing a few more chances in the final third, while at the same time keeping things tight in the back,” commented Bulldog coach Matt Kern. “

Longwood has had some good results drawing with ACC member Pitt and also has a tie with High Point.  It should be a great Big South match on Saturday.”

The Lancers first ever Big South Conference match was at Asheville last season, and Longwood came away with a 1-0 victory. The teams fought to a 1-1 tie at Longwood two years ago.

Asheville lost on Tuesday at home to Wisconsin-Green Bay, 2-1. Bobby Castro scored his first goal of the season.

The Bulldogs are home for their next three home matches after playing at Longwood. All three will be league contests. Asheville hosts Presbyterian College (Oct. 9), High Point (Oct. 12) and Campbell (Oct. 19).
