BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Emil Gonsalvez picked up his first career goal, but Campbell scored twice early and added a goal late in the opening half en route to a 5-1 Big South Conference win over UNC Asheville Saturday night.

The Bulldogs (1-15-0, 0-9-0 BSC) lost for the 15th straight time and remained winless in the Big South Conference.

The Camels struck twice in the first nine minutes of the match as the home team jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead.

Asheville settled down after that and began to control play. The Bulldogs got on the board in the 27th minute when Trey Hemphill's shot was stopped. Gonsalvez was there for the rebound and tucked the ball into the back of the net to cut the CU lead to 2-1.

It stayed 2-1 for most of the first half as each team traded scoring chances. With 36 seconds to go in the half, Ricki Gaez scored from the top of the box for a 3-1 Camels lead.

Campbell held a slight edge in shots in the opening half as it had 11 shots to 10 for the Bulldogs.

In the second half, Ben Iiames scored off a header in the 67th minute to pad the margin to 4-1. Campbell completed the scoring in the 84th minute when Cam Cardenas tallied his seventh goal of the season to push margin to 5-1.

Asheville completes the season next Friday night when the Bulldogs travel to Big South foe Liberty at 7 p.m.
