Men's Soccer Rallies Past Presbyterian College, 2-1 in Overtime

CLINTON, S.C. - Colton Paschall scored his first two goals of the year to lead the UNC Asheville men's soccer team to a dramatic 2-1 Big South Conference overtime win over homestanding Presbyterian College Tuesday night.

The Bulldogs (3-6-1, 1-1-0 BSC) trailed 1-0 but Paschall scored late in the match to tie the game and then scored midway through the first overtime period to give Asheville the victory.

With the match tied 1-1, the Bulldogs were awarded a free kick in the 96th minute from 20 yards out. Paschall hit a rocket from there and the ball sailed into the PC goal. It was the junior midfielder's second goal of the night and it came at 96:15.

The Blue Hose (1-7-1, 0-3-0 BSC) out-shot Asheville 17-11. Bulldog goalkeeper Lassi Hurskainen was brilliant in goal for Asheville as he made seven saves.

The first half was scoreless. In the second half, the home team got on the board first when Paul Gunning scored on a shot from 12 yards out at the 49:38 mark.

Presbyterian maintained the lead for most of the match before Paschall struck late in regulation. Off a corner kick, Connor Holzinger sent a ball into the box. Eli Morrow sent the ball to Paschall who then tallied his first goal of the night on a shot from 12 yards out. The goal came at 83:51. The assist was Holzinger's team-leading fifth assist of the season.
