HIGH POINT, N.C. - The UNC Asheville men's soccer team had three players receive honors as the Big South Conference announced its award-winners for the 2010 season on the eve of the quarterfinals of the league championship to be held at High Point.

Junior goalkeeper Lassi Hurskainen earned second-team all-conference honors. Hurskainen has posted three shutouts on the season and a goals-against-average of 1.65. He has started and played every minute of all 17 matches for Asheville in 2010. Hurskainen has made 91 saves on the year and has one shutout in league play and that was a 1-0 decision against Winthrop last week.

Freshman forward Kenneth Lingerfelt earned a spot on the All-Rookie team. The Asheville native played in all 17 games for the Bulldogs and started 10 times. He scored one goal on the year and took 19 shots.

Junior defender Jake Sides was named to the Big South All-Academic team for men's soccer. Sides made the nine-person team because of his great work both on the field and in the classroom. He has started and played in every match for Asheville and been named to all-tournament teams at Kentucky and Lipscomb. Sides carries a 3.8 GPA.

The Bulldogs (4-12-1) will take on top-seeded High Point Thursday night at 7:30 p.m.
