ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville men's soccer team plays its first true road game of the season at #28 High Point Saturday night in Big South Conference action.

The Bulldogs (1-6-0, 0-1-0 BSC) face a stern test against the Panthers. High Point is unbeaten on the season at 7-0-0 and outscored its opponents, 25-4 this season. The match will be the league opener for the Panthers.
Asheville has not played since competing last weekend at the Radford Invitational. The Bulldogs fell to eventual tourney champ Marshall, 2-1 and then to Marist, 4-0.
Matt Kern's club will be looking to end a six-game losing streak Saturday night. Asheville would also like to end a seven-match winless stretch to the Panthers. The teams tied last year at Greenwood Field, 1-1.
"High Point is off to an excellent start and has scored a bunch of goals this season," stated Kern. "We hope to do a better a job with our defending from open play and from restarts. Saturday night should be a great atmosphere for a college soccer match."
Patrick Phillip leads the Bulldogs in scoring with two goals. Trey Hemphill, Kenneth Lingerfelt, Sam Rossabi and Hans Lohmeyer all have one goal each for the Blue & White.
Sophomore goalkeeper Dan Jackson has made six starts for Asheville and recorded 33 saves.
The Bulldogs stay on the road after the High Point match as they'll travel to Mercer on Wednesday, Sept. 26 at 6 p.m. Asheville's next home game in next Saturday (Sept. 29) as the Bulldogs host league foe Winthrop at Greenwood Field starting at Noon.
