HIGH POINT, N.C. - Unbeaten High Point scored early and kept UNC Asheville from scoring as the 28th-ranked Panthers defeated the Bulldogs, 3-0 Saturday night at Panther Field.


High Point (8-0-0, 1-0-0 BSC) controlled the match from start to finish as the Panthers out-shot Asheville, 23-1. Stabler Cochrane was the lone Bulldog to have a shot for Asheville (1-7-0, 0-2-0 BSC).


High Point opened the scoring in the second minute of the match when Mamadee Nyepon scored on a header to put the home team in front, 1-0. It was Nyepon's eighth goal of the season.


Leon Carby of High Point scored his third goal of the year when he knocked in a shot from 18 yards out in the 37th minute to push the Panther lead to 2-0.


The home team sealed the victory in the second half on a goal in the 62nd minute when Shane Malcolm tallied to push the lead to 3-0.


Asheville goalkeeper Dan Jackson made four saves for the Bulldogs.


UNC Asheville plays again on Wednesday when the Bulldogs travel to Mercer for a 6 p.m. match. Asheville is home at Greenwood Field this Saturday (Sept. 29) when the Bulldogs host Winthrop at Noon.
