RADFORD, Va. – The UNC Asheville men’s soccer team finishes the 2013 season at Big South Conference rival Radford at Cupp Stadium Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.
The Bulldogs (5-13-0, 2-7-0 BSC) look for their second straight victory against the Highlander at Radford. Asheville edged RU 1-0 two years ago before the Highlanders won last year’s match at Greenwood Field, 2-1.
Matt Kern’s club fell in its last game as the Bulldogs hopes to get into the Big South Conference Tournament came to an end with a 4-0 loss at Winthrop Wednesday night.
Asheville has improved a great deal from last year’s 1-15-1 season. The Bulldogs’ 1-0 upset win over #6 Coastal Carolina last Saturday was called the biggest upset in college soccer this season by Soccer America.
Bobby Castro continues to lead Asheville in scoring with three goals and seven points. Emil Gonsalvez’s three goals have all been game-winners.
Radford is 7-6-4 on the season and has a 3-2-2 worksheet. The Highlanders played at Greenwood Field earlier this season and won the Bulldog invitational with victories over Georgia Southern and Howard.
