RADFORD, Va. – Radford scored a goal in each half as the Highlanders downed UNC Asheville 2-0 in Big South Conference men’s soccer action Saturday afternoon at Cupp Stadium.
The Bulldogs finished the season at 5-14-0 overall and 2-8-0 in league play. Radford out-shot Asheville 31-7.
Matt Kern’s club did have some chance as Quentin Reynolds and Hans Lohmyer had point-blank shots that Highlander goalkeeper Dane Wilson stopped.
RU took a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute on a goal from Dario Redondo as he put away a loose ball in the goal area.
The Highlanders score again just after halftime when the Bulldogs suffered an own goal to pad the Highlander lead to 2-0.
Rob May and Reynolds had two shots each for the Asheville. Zak Davis had four saves for the Bulldogs in the first half. Dan Jackson played the second half in goal for the Blue & White and was brilliant. He made 10 saves to keep Asheville within striking distance.
