CHARLESTON, S.C. - Charleston Southern scored four goals in each half as the Lady Bucs rolled to an 8-0 Big South Conference women's soccer victory over UNC Asheville Saturday afternoon.
Marky Bruce, one of the nation's top goal scorers, tallied three times in the opening half. She now has a Big South-leading 19 goals.
Asheville was out-shot 31-11 in the match. Amanda Knapp fired three shots with two on target.
Boyce scored at 5:58 to give the Lady Bucs (10-4-1, 4-0-1) a 1-0 lead. She scored again in the 25th minute to push the margin to 2-0.
CSU really put the game away with two goals right before halftime. Olivia Urig tallied at 42:04, followed by a Boyce goal at 43:31 to put the home team in front 4-0
In the second half, the Lady Buccaneers padded the margin with goals from four different players.
Asheville (1-11-0, 0-4-0 BSC) used two goalkeepers in the match. Erin Ryan played the first half and made five saves, while Kristen Lawson stopped seven shots in the second period.
The Bulldogs are back in action Monday afternoon at Coastal Carolina starting at 4 p.m. Asheville plays its final two home games next weekend as the Bulldogs take on Winthrop on Friday, Oct. 22 at 3:30 p.m. and then face Gardner-Webb on Sunday, Oct. 24 at 2 p.m.
