ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville women's soccer team looks to bounce back from a frustrating and disappointing loss on Thursday to Gardner-Webb when the Bulldogs play at Winthrop this evening at 7 p.m. The match will be video-streamed and can be seen for a small fee at www.uncabulldogs.com.

Asheville (4-12-0, 3-4-0 BSC) led 3-0 early in the second half at Gardner-Webb before the Runnin' Bulldogs scored three goals in a 10-minute span to tie the match at 3-3. In overtime, GWU scored with four seconds left in the first overtime period to earn the victory.

The Bulldogs got goals from Ferriss Roberts, Frances Staelin and Margo Flewelling to build the lead. For Staelin and Flewelling, it was their first career goals.

Asheville doesn't have much time to worry about the loss as a tough challenge at Winthrop awaits them. The Lady Eagles are 9-6 overall and 5-2 in the Big South. Spencer Smith's club is challenging for first place in the league.

"We need to put the Gardner-Webb match behind us and be ready for Winthrop," stated second-year coach Michelle Demko. "Winthrop has a good club and they're playing very well right now."

Asheville returns home next weekend to finish the regular season. The Bulldogs host High Point on Thursday at 3 p.m., followed by a match with Liberty Saturday at Noon.
