ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women’s soccer team looks to bounce back from a tough loss on Saturday when the Bulldogs host Big South Conference leader Liberty at Greenwood Field Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children.

Wednesday’s match will be able to be seen for free on the Big South Digital Network and can be accessed under the multi-media tag at uncabulldogs.com.

Asheville (5-5-0, 1-1-0 BSC) lost a frustrating 1-0 match at home to Presbyterian College on Saturday. It was the Bulldogs first home loss of the season. Liberty has a 7-3 worksheet entering Wednesday’s match and is 2-0-0 in league play as the Lady Flames routed Campbell on Saturday, 7-0.

"This game will be a test for our program.  We were incredibly disappointed with our play last weekend and this is an opportunity for us to bounce back and have a response,” stated Asheville coach Michelle Demko. “Liberty is a solid program.  They are disciplined in defending and have proved to make the most of their opportunities in the attack.  We are looking forward to proving we are very capable of playing with anyone in this conference."

Asheville will be looking for its first regular-season win over Liberty in eight seasons. The Bulldogs knocked off the Flames 4-1 in 2005 before Liberty avenged that loss in the Big South Championship game that year, 3-0. The teams met the next year for the Big South title with Asheville advancing past the Flames in penalty kicks.

Kennedy Garrett leads Asheville in scoring with two goals, two assists and six points. Shenny Lenhart and Amanda Knapp also have two goals for the Bulldogs.

Junior goalkeeper Heather Muller became the school’s all-time leaders in saves on Saturday. She now has 301 career saves. Muller has posted three shutouts on the year.

Wednesday’s game is third of a four-game homestand. The Bulldogs host Charleston Southern on Saturday at 2 p.m.
