CONWAY, S.C. – Coastal Carolina scored three times in the first half and twice in the second half en route to a 5-0 Big South Conference victory over UNC  Asheville Saturday afternoon at CCU Soccer Field.


The Bulldogs fell to 5-9-1 on the season overall and 1-5-1 in league play. The Chanticleers improve to 8-7-1 overall and 5-3-0 in league action.


Coastal Carolina was led by Morgan Smith with two goals. The Chants got goals from Kacey Kelly and Fiona Jonsson plus an own goal to pick up their third win in the last four games.


The home team out-shot the visitors 22-8 and had six corner kicks to none for the Bulldogs.


Asheville goalkeeper Heather Muller played the first half and made five saves. Suzie Zigante played the second half and made one stop.


Amanda Dailor and Kennedy Garrett had two shots each for the Bulldogs.


UNC Asheville plays next at VMI Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m.
