ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women’s soccer team hits the road on Saturday for a 1 p.m. match at Big South foe Coastal Carolina.
The Bulldogs (5-8-2, 1-4-2 BSC) will look for their second win on the road and second league victory Saturday against the Chanticleers (7-7-1, 4-3-0 BSC).
Asheville is coming off a hard-fought 1-1 tie with High Point Wednesday afternoon. Kennedy Garrett tallied her team-leading third goal of the season for the Bulldogs. Junior goalkeeper Heather Muller made 11 saves for the Blue & White.
Coastal Carolina won at Campbell on Wednesday, 4-1 behind two goals from Kacey Kelly.
The Chanticleers have controlled the series in recent years and have the last seven meetings, including a 2-1 decision at Greenwood Field last season.
The Bulldogs have never won at Coastal Carolina in the regular season and only point they’ve earned was a 1-1 tie in the 2004 season. However, Asheville did win the 2006 Big South Conference championship at Coastal Carolina and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time with three wins.
Michelle Demko’s team is at VMI on Wednesday before the Bulldogs play their final home match next Saturday (Oct. 26) against Longwood at 2 p.m.
