ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women’s soccer team will try to get back on the winning track Wednesday afternoon when the Bulldogs play at VMI in a Big South battle starting at 3 p.m.
Asheville (5-9-1, 1-5-2) is in ninth place and trying to move up to eighth place and earn a spot in the 2013 Big South Conference championships in two weeks. The Keydets are 3-12-0 on the season and 1-7-0 in league action.
The Bulldogs are coming off a disappointing loss at Coastal Carolina Saturday afternoon when Asheville fell, 5-0. VMI lost at home to Presbyterian College at home, 4-0.
Kennedy Garrett leads the Bulldogs in scoring with three goals, three assists and nine points. Amanda Knapp and Shenny Lenhart have added two goals each.
Junior goalkeeper Heather Muller has enjoyed a great season as she’s started all 15 games with four shutouts.
Asheville finishes its home season on Saturday when the Bulldogs host Longwood at Greenwood Field starting at 2 p.m. The school will honor its two seniors playing their final home match in Amanda Knapp and Kristen Lawson.
