ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville women's soccer team plays their final two home matches of the season this weekend as the Bulldogs try to earn their first Big South Conference victories of the year.

First-year coach Michelle Demko's club takes on Winthrop Friday at 3:30 p.m. and then faces Gardner-Webb Sunday at 2 p.m. Both matches will be video-streamed and can be seen for a small fee at www.uncabulldogs.com.

Sunday's match will be Senior Day as the Bulldogs will honor their lone senior prior to the match - Katy Beeler.

Asheville (1-12-0, 0-5-0 BSC) battled hard at Coastal Carolina Monday afternoon. The Bulldogs led 1-0 on a goal from Ferriss Roberts and kept that 1-0 lead for much of the game before the Chanticleers scored four times in the second half to record a 4-1 victory.

Asheville has fought hard throughout the year despite a continuous rash of injuries that has hit the Bulldogs hard from before the first day of practice. The latest is sophomore goalkeeper Megan Dent. Dent, who had played every minute of every match for the first 11 games of the season, has missed the last two contests.

Junior midfielder Leilani Halkiotis leads Asheville in scoring with two goals and seven points. She is tied for the team lead in goals and leads in assists with three. Mary Beale and Roberts have two goals each for the Bulldogs.
