ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville women's soccer team played two spring matches recently and had some excellent results in Spartanburg last week.
The Bulldogs tied Wofford 1-1 and then downed USC Upstate 4-0. Head Coach Michelle Demko was pleased with both results to start their spring schedule season.
"I thought we played well in both matches. It was a good start to our spring season games," stated Demko. "We moved the ball well and created good scoring opportunities out of the run of play. We had multiple players scoring for us, so I now we can rely on a number of players to be dangerous in the final third and score goals. It was exciting to see us back on the field working collectively. Our creativity in the attack has increased and it makes us fun to watch.
"This group wants to win and are willing to do the work necessary to push this program forward," added Demko. We are off this week for spring break, and then we are back at it with three dates to play in March and two dates in April. I am proud of our effort in the first two scrimmages and hope to continue to build off this success."
