BUIES CREEK, N.C. - The UNC Asheville women's soccer teams hits the road starting tonight for two Big South Conference matches. The Bulldogs travel to Campbell tonight for a 7 p.m. match, followed by a game at High Point on Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
Both matches will be video-streamed and can be seen live under the multimedia tag at www.uncabulldogs.com.
Asheville (3-9-0, 1-3-0 BSC) split a pair of home matches last weekend as the Bulldogs downed VMI 4-2 last Thursday and fell to defending BSC champion Radford on Saturday, 3-2. In both matches, Asheville's offense really came alive with scoring chances and opportunities.
Michelle Demko's club will have two tough challenges during the week. Campbell is 7-3-1 on the year and 2-2-0 in league play, while the Panthers have posted a 3-4-6 overall record but they are unbeaten in league play at 2-0-2.
Asheville fell at Campbell last year 2-1 and lost to High Point at home, 4-0.
The Bulldogs are being led in scoring this season by sophomore forward Kaitlyn Eckert. She has scored five goals with four assists for 14 points. Freshman Paige Trent is next with four goals and two assists for 10 points. Freshman Shenny Lenhart has tallied four goals with one assist for nine points.
Sophomore goalkeeper Heather Muller has posted 77 saves and played every minute of every match this year.
The Bulldogs return home to Greenwood Field next Thursday afternoon when they host Coastal Carolina in league play starting at 3 p.m.
