BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Campbell scored with 12 seconds remaining in regulation as the Lady Camels slipped past UNC Asheville 3-2 in Big South Conference women's soccer action Thursday night.

The Bulldogs (3-10-0, 1-4-0 BSC) had a 2-0 first-half lead before Campbell scored twice late in the opening half to tie the match.

It stayed 2-2 for most of the second half, despite Asheville getting five corner kicks to none for the home team.

Late in regulation, Kristy Meyer sent a pass to Ashley Clark who scored her 10th goal of the season for Campbell to give the Camels a 3-2 leads at 89:48.

The Bulldogs opened the scoring in the 25th minute  when Kaitlyn Eckert scored her team-leading sixth goal of the season. She took a cross from Hannah Jeske and scored from the top of the box for a 1-0 Asheville lead at 25:46.

The visitors scored again in the 39th minute when Amanda Dailor tallied her third goal of the year on a long shot to put Asheville in front 2-0.

However, Campbell scored twice in the final four minutes to tie the match at 2-2 before intermission. Taylor Brown scored on a penalty kick at 41:54 to cut the lead to 2-1. Two minutes later, Cissy Nitz knotted the game at 2-2 on a breakaway.

After Clark's goal, Asheville had a chance to tie the game as Campbell was called for a foul. Dailor's shot was stopped by Camel goalkeeper Ryann Torrero as the horn sounded giving the home team the win.

"This will be a difficult game to forget. We were up 2-0 with six minutes until halftime. We gave up two goals and went into halftime tied 2-2," said Asheville coach Michelle Demko. "They (Campbell) scored the game winner with 12 seconds left. We need to do a better job of managing the game when we can get a result.

"The game itself was exciting, end- to-end soccer.  I thought we fought hard and created great opportunities," added Demo.  "Kaitlyn Eckert scored first off a ball slipped into the box. She was very composed and tucked it away off the breakaway. Amanda Dailor's goal was a long-range shot that went over the goalkeeper's head. We were a good team tonight. I believe things are starting to click for us at the right time as we enter the bulk of conference play."

UNC Asheville stays on the road as the Bulldogs play at High Point starting at 1 p.m. The match can be seen via video-streaming at www.uncabulldogs.com under the multimedia tag.
