ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Coastal Carolina scored twice midway through the second half to rally past UNC Asheville 2-1 in Big South Conference women's soccer action Thursday afternoon at Greenwood Field.

The Chanticleers (7-7-0, 4-3-0 BSC) won their third straight match as Kacey Kelly and Christina Stern scored for the visitors in the second half to overcome a 1-0 Bulldog halftime lead. Asheville (3-12-0, 1-6-0 BSC) lost its fourth straight match with three of those losses by just one goal.

The home team stunned Coastal Carolina in the first minute of the match. Paige Trent sent a pass to Kaitlyn Eckert who scored on a shot from 10 yards out to put the Bulldogs in front 1-0 just 51 seconds into the match. It was the sophomore forward's eighth goal of the season and marked the fourth straight game in which she has scored.

The Chanticleers came close to scoring several times in the second half only to see Asheville goalkeeper Heather Muller make three saves to keep CCU off the scoreboard.

The visitors held a 7-4 edge in shots in the opening half and 5-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Asheville controlled the first part of the second half as Amanda Dailor just missed scoring on two shots.

The Chanticleers tied the match in the 62nd minute.  Maggie McGavin took advantage of a Bulldog turnover and sent a pass to Kelley, who connected on a shot from 20 yards out to knot the match at 1-1.

Four minutes later, CCU scored the game-winner. Stern picked up a loose ball and hit a shot that bounced off the crossbar. It bounced right back to her, and she tucked it into the back of the net for a 2-1 Chanticleer lead at 66:38.

The Bulldogs battled hard in the last 20 minutes but could not get the tying goal. CCU goalkeeper Megan Spencer made three saves, two in the second half.
