ASHEVILLE,N.C. - Fresh off a thrilling overtime win, the UNC Asheville women's soccer team will play its final home game of the year on Saturday against Big South foe Winthrop at Greenwood Field starting at 2:30 p.m. The game will also be Senior Day as the Bulldogs honor their four seniors playing their final home game.

Saturday's game was originally slated to start at Noon but has been moved to 2:30 p.m. The men's game with VMI will start at Noon instead.

The four seniors being recognized will be Mary Beale, Elizabeth Keil, Hannah Jeske and Ferriss Roberts.

Asheville ended a five-game losing streak in dramatic fashion Thursday against Gardner-Webb at home. The Bulldogs trailed 2-1 late in regulation when Kaitlyn Eckert scored on a free kick with 28 seconds left to send the match into overtime. Freshman forward Paige Trent won the match when she scored on a header late in the first overtime period.

Asheville (4-13-0, 2-7-0 BSC) will face a stiff challenge against Spencer Smith's Lady Eagle squad. Winthrop is 8-6-2 on the year and 5-2-2 in league play. Smith's squad is coming off a 4-0 victory at Presbyterian College Thursday night.

"I am looking forward to our match up with Winthrop.  Both teams will be organized and have a high speed of play," commented third-year Asheville coach Michelle Demko.  "I am hoping we can go into our game with the confidence we gained from yesterday's overtime win against Gardner Webb. Tomorrow is an opportunity to send the seniors off with a win and pay tribute to their commitment and dedication to our program.  It will be a 90-minute battle, and I'm looking forward to it."

Eckert continues to lead the Bulldogs in scoring with a nine goals, five assists for 23 points. She's third in the league in scoring with her 23 points, just one off the league-lead. Sophomore goalkeeper Heather Muller has made 118 saves, fourth best in the nation.
