Editor’s Note: Junior goalkeeper Suzie Zigante has been selected to play for the Croatian National Team when they participate in the Balaton Cup Women's International Tournament in Hungary in early August. She will send a blog periodically to tell of her experience playing for her national team. Today's blog is about her first day with her team. There is also a photo gallery.

Today we arrived at the hotel in Zagreb to meet the team. We are heading to Hungary tomorrow early morning. We must wake up at 7 a.m. to eat and then we are off to beautiful Hungary! (We will see how beautiful it actually is...)

The team is very nice. The language barrier is for sure there, but there are some girls who can speak English rather well, and thankfully one of them is my roommate. I can pick out certain words people are saying and can get what the story is about but I do not understand any of the details. I speak very poorly when I try Croatian, but I don’t care if it makes everyone laugh. It makes me laugh. I make fun of myself for being American and it works. I say a lot of words very wrong, the accent is definitely there! Why couldn't my dad teach me when I was younger? I don't know I will never know. It would have been an easy ticket, but I guess my dad thought it was too hard for me to understand. Oh well, now I pay the price.

So we as a team got to go on a team run. Now a team run here is not as bad as it sounds, it is mostly stretching and jogging at a nice pace. We found a grassy field near the hotel and jogged and stretched for about 30 minutes. It was the easiest running I had to do, and I wish all running was relaxing like that! The reason we went for a jog was to stretch out our bodies and legs because many of us had to travel to get to the hotel and our bodies were stiff.

So... the cool part…we got gear, I am sure you want to see it (See the attached photo album).

The jersey will come when we get to play our first matches. Those will be the coolest things we will get to wear I am sure.

On a scary note one of the girls asked me what I do in my spare time. Umm. Well. I couldn't answer. All I do is play soccer and school and when I can hang out with friends I guess. So I said that, but like that’s kind of scary. All I spend my free time doing really is playing soccer. Is that healthy? I don’t know. You tell me.

We practice on the field tomorrow when we get to Hungary. Get to put those gloves back on in a hurry.
