ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women’s soccer team looks to go 3-0 for the first time in close to 10 years when the Bulldogs host unbeaten Wofford at Greenwood Field Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. Admission is $5.

Friday’s match can be seen for free on the Big South Network. It can be accessed under the multimedia tag at uncabulldogs.com.

The Bulldogs won two one-goal matches last weekend. Asheville edged Chattanooga at home, 2-1 and then downed USC Upstate on the road on Sunday, 1-0. Senior midfielder Amanda Dailor had goals in both games. Senior forward Kaitlyn Eckert has assisted on all three Bulldog goals this season.

Senior goalkeeper Heather Muller has not allowed a goal in 155 minutes of action this year. She earned her seventh career shutout in the Upstate victory.

Asheville faces a tough challenge in Wofford. The Terriers (2-0-0) edged the Bulldogs a year ago in Spartanburg, 1-0. They’ve knocked off two Big South teams to begin the season with a 3-2 overtime win over Gardner-Webb and 3-0 triumph over Presbyterian College.

“Wofford is a competitive and well organized team. Friday's game will be a good match-up between two teams who are creative and disciplined in their style of play,” stated Bulldog coach Michelle Demko. “We hope to build on the success of our first two games in our attacking play and remain focused on good team shape in transition.”

The Wofford match begins a four-game homestand for the Bulldogs. Asheville will host Mars Hill on Sunday (Aug. 31), Alabama State (Sept. 5) and South Carolina State (Sept. 7).

BULLDOG NOTES

Senior goalkeeper Heather Muller has started in 61 straight games for the Blue & White. She is the school’s all-time leader in saves with 365.

Asheville is 5-3-1 in its last nine home matches dating back to last season.

The Bulldogs have not started 3-0-0 since the 2005 season.

Senior forward Kaitlyn Eckert has 51 career points. She has recorded a point in 12 of the last 14 games she has played in for the Bulldogs.

Amanda Dailor was named Big South Attacker of the Week on Monday for the first time in her career.
