JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Sophomore sprinter Milan Ristic set a new school record in the 110 High Hurdles on Saturday in the preliminary round of the NCAA Track and Field championships at North Florida.

Ristic ran a time of 13.88, breaking his former school record of 13.94, and just missed advancing to the NCAA Championships in Des Moines, Iowa.

He finished 14th in the event and needed to place in the top 12. The time in front of him was 13.87 which mean Ristic missed qualifying for the national meet by .01 of a second.

"Milan did a great job this weekend," stated Bulldog assistant coach Joel Williams. "We're a little disappointed that he's not going to nationals but nine of the sprinters in front of him were seniors.  The future is very bright for Milan. Next year he's going to be one of the top guys in our region in this event.

"I think Milan feels good about how he ran," added Williams. "He set a school record and had his best time of the year. Milan is only going to get better because he's such a hard worker. We're already looking forward to next season."

Ristic enjoyed a great year for the Bulldogs winning the Big South Conference championship in the 110 High Hurdles in the outdoor season and the 60 High Hurdles in the indoor season.
