ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville men’s and women’s track and field team will have its first post-season meet of the year today at the Liberty Twilight Qualifier in Lynchburg, Va.
“We're pretty excited to go up there and see what we can do in the post-season,” said head coach, Jesse Norman. “We' have several athletes who are right on the cusp of qualifying for the NCAA Regional, so we're going to try to get them to move up a couple spots tonight.”
The men's team will be represented by senior thrower, Kurt Hibert in the hammer and discus throws. He is currently ranked 86th in the East region with a season best throw of 56.05 meters.
The women's team will be represented by freshman Kassie Pierre in the 400 meter intermediate hurdles, red-shirt senior Corey McClintock in the hammer throw and senior Meredith Ristic in the high jump.
In the East region, Pierre is currently ranked 93rd with a season best time of 101.70. McClintock is ranked 91st with a season best mark of 51.31 meters. Ristic is ranked 71st with a season best mark of 1.70 meters.
The first event for the Bulldogs will be the men's hammer throw at 3 p.m.
