"We're excited about this year's meet," commented Bulldog coach Jesse Norman. "Both teams have really improved as the season has progressed and are ready to do some damage this weekend."
The women's team will be sensational senior sprinter Natalie Pearson. Pearson, who went to the nationals last year in the 200 meters, will be looking for championships in the 100 and 200 meters.
Distance runner Melanie Kulesz has enjoyed a solid year and will be one of the favorites in the 1,500 meters.
On the men's side, senior Simon Haake has thrown the javelin just twice this season and both times he's set school records. Last year, Haake finished fourth in the javelin but qualified for the NCAA Regional.
Freshman Milan Ristic has shown a lot of progress in the hurdles and sprint events this season. He'll be challenging for points this weekend.
Both teams hope to build on the momentum of the women's team finishing a stunning third at the Big South Indoor Meet in February.
"Our women's team had a great meet at the indoor championships and we hopefully can get confidence from what we accomplished there," commented Norman. "However, a lot of things fell into place for us during the indoor championships. We're going to need performances like that and even more to make a strong showing this weekend."
