ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville men's and women's track teams are scheduled to compete in the Duke Invitational this weekend at Wallace Wade Stadium.  More than 2,500 participants from more than 50 institutions are scheduled to compete this weekend.  Field events kick off at 12:00 p.m. on Friday and track events begin at 1:30 p.m.

"This will be another good test for us against some excellent competition," commented Bulldog coach Jesse Norman. "Both of our teams should get great experience against some of the best teams in the region.

"We've had some good results throughout the year. Right now, we're just looking for a little more consistency throughout both teams," added Norman. "We have the Big South championships in two weeks and want to be peaking then."

Last weekend at the Raleigh relays, sophomore sprinter Milan Ristic set a school record and finished third in the 110 Hurdles to highlight UNC Asheville's performance over the weekend.

Ristic posted a time of 13.94 and set the school mark for the fourth time this year against the very strong field in Raleigh

Freshman distance runner Kevin Paradise competed in the 10,000 meters and his time of 32:14 qualified him for the Junior Nationals in Bloomington, Ind. in June.

Other highlights of the weekend included a fourth place finish by Melanie Kulesz in the 5000 meters as she had a time of 17:36. Adrian Etheridge and Clair Powell came in ninth and 10th respectively in the 5000 meters with a time of 18:33 each.

Sarah Gentry took 13th against a tough field in the 800 meters at 2:11.53. Her time is the second best in school history. Molly Harkavy's time of 15.42 for the 100 Hurdles is the fourth best in school history.

In field events, Ashlei Clodfelter came in eighth place in the javelin with a throw of 39.61 meters. Corey McClintock had a throw of 45.99 meters in the hammer throw which is the second highest in school history.

The 4x400 relay team of Sarah Gentry, Molly Harkavy, Emily Pineda and Alyska Kalmeijer posted a time of 4:01.13. That time is the fourth best in school history.
