ROCK HILL, S.C. – Meredith Ristic finished in third place in the high jump to highlight UNC Asheville’s performance on the second day of the Big South Conference Championships at the Irwin Belk Stadium on the campus of Winthrop.
The women’s team is in sixth place with 20 points, while the men’s squad in in eighth place with five points. Saturday will be the third and final day of the championship meet.
Ristic, who has battled injuries throughout the year, managed a podium finish by finishing in third place in the high jump. Her top jump was 1.65 meters.
On the men’s side, John Bellard earned points for the Bulldogs with a sixth-place finish in the javelin with a throw of 57.03 meters.
In the women’s 400 meters, Kassandra Pierre qualified for Saturday’s finals as she posted a time of 1:02.89.
Alyssa Lashway qualified for the 800 meters on Saturday with a time of 2:18.26. Anna Gelbach had a time of 2:20.70.
Chase Stevens competed in the 800 meters on the men’s side and finished with a time of 1:58.36.
In the 1500 meters, Rachel Carson (4:45.85) and Kelsie Rubino (4:45.87) qualified for Saturday’s finals. Patrick Osborne had a time of 4:02.53 in the 1500.
Saturday’s finals will start at 11 a.m.
