ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men’s tennis team begins a stretch of four games in six days this afternoon when the Bulldogs take on North Greenville at the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown starting at 2 p.m.
The Bulldogs are 6-8 on the season after a heartbreaking 4-3 loss to Charlotte on Friday. Charlotte entered the match ranked 75th nationally but Asheville took the 49ers right to the wire before falling.
“Friday was a tough loss but we played some very good tennis against an excellent Charlotte team,” admitted Asheville coach Tom Hand. “We’re making progress and getting better with each match. We have a big week in front of us.”
After today’s match, the Bulldogs get back into Big South Conference play with a home match vs. Presbyterian College on Tuesday at 1 p.m. Asheville travels to Liberty on Friday and Radford on Saturday.
Freshman Josh Swindler has posted eight singles win this year. Brett Landau, Daniel Kripak and Thomas Panoulas all have seven wins in singles action.
Thomas Panoulas and Josh Swindler have been tough to beat at #3 doubles with a 7-2 mark.
