ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men’s tennis team competed this past weekend at the Elon Fall Invitational and posted some solid results.
Brett Landau and John Schubel bounced back from losses in their first singles match to win the backdraw of the respective flights. Landau won two matches to claim the A2 back draw flight. He downed Joe Ljungdhal of Bluefield, 6-4, 6-1.
Schubel won the B1 backdraw flight by dispatching Dave Kienka of North Carolina Central, 7-5, 6-3.
The Bulldogs also won two backdraws of doubles flights over the weekend. Thomas Panoulas and Josh Swindler lost their first match in the BI doubles flight but won two straight matches over the weekend.
Will Goldberg and Reid Dillon did the same as Panoulas and Swindler in the B2 doubles flight.
Another highlight in singles play was Dillon winning his first two matches in the B2 flight before losing a close three-set decision to Chad Geaslen of Elon.
The Bulldogs finish up the fall season this weekend at the Winthrop Invitational.
