DAVIDSON, N.C. -The UNC Asheville men's tennis team defeated Davidson for the first time ever as the Bulldogs upset the Wildcats, 5-2.
Asheville lost the doubles point but won five singles matches, including four in three sets to pick up the road win. Adrien Langeard, Ryan Matthews, Jonas Brobeck and Nathan White all gutted out three-set victories to earn the victory. Langeard, Brobeck and White lost their first set but roared back to win the next two sets.
"This is a great win for our guys," commented assistant coach Tom Hand. "We've played in some close matches so far and have been coming close. Today we started winning some key points that led us to win games and then sets. This is a great victory for us to build on for the rest of the season."
The Bulldogs host Mars Hill College Sunday at Crowne Plaza Tennis Center starting at 1 p.m.
