ASHEVILLE, N.C. - UNC Asheville bounced back from losing the doubles point and won all six singles matches to knock off Southern Conference foe Appalachian State, 6-1 in men's college tennis action at the Asheville Racquet Club Saturday afternoon.

 

The Bulldogs (1-1) earned their first win of the season by winning three singles matches in three sets.

 

ASU (1-4) won the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead. The Blue & White quickly rallied in singles as Adrien Langeard won at #1 flight over Sebastian King, 6-2, 6-1. The Bulldogs made it 2-1 when freshman Alex Kroger won at #4 singles over Jen-Willem Kleynhans, 7-6, 6-4.

 

Matt Waissen padded the lead to 3-1 at #2 flight as he slipped past Zach Bost, 7-5, 6-4.

 

Freshman Daniel Kripak then sealed the win with a thrilling three-set win. He lost the first set to Steve Karendal, 4-6 but stormed back to win the next two sets, 7-5, 7-5.  

 

John Schubel and Ryan Matthews finished up the singles victories for Asheville.  Both won in three sets and won the third set in a tie-breaker.

 

The Bulldogs are back in action on Sunday at home when they host Mars Hill at the ARC Downtown at 3 p.m.
