ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville won a close doubles point with two tie-breaking wins and then cruised in singles as the Bulldogs downed Tennessee Tech 6-1 in men’s college tennis action Sunday afternoon at the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown.

The Bulldogs (3-2) worked hard to get the doubles point. Asheville won all three matches in doubles but had to go to a tie-breaker to win the first and second flights. Asheville’s #2 doubles team of Will Goldberg and Alex Croker slipped past Gagan Jain and Alvaro Cintas, 6-5 (7-0).

The Bulldogs #3 doubles team won easily as Josh Swindler and Thomas Panoulas downed Oleksiy Arounin and Gonzalo Munoz, 6-2.

In singles action, Asheville won flights 2-5 to earn its third win of the season and second straight win over the Golden Eagles. Only John Schubel had to go to three sets at #4 flight. He edged Cintas, 6-2, 2-6, 6-5 (7-2).
