TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Bulldog men’s tennis player Brett Landau claimed a doubles championship at Florida State this morning in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Summer Circuit.


Landau teamed up with Florida Gulf Coast’s Chris Perrigan to win five matches and claim the title. They downed Christian Harris (Clemson) and Nicholas Wilson (UTC) this morning, 8-6.


“This is a great victory for Brett,” commented UNC Asheville coach Tom Hand. “He played against some outstanding competition this weekend and came out on top. This experience will only help him this fall and next spring.”


Landau and Perrigan knocked off Logan Reid (Stetson) and Cody Paulsen (FSU) in the first round, 8-1 on Sunday. Later that day, they defeated Drew Akins and Morgan Stone, 8-2.


On Monday, the duo stunned eighth-seeded Grayson Goldin (FSU) and Josh Wordall (Florida), 8-4 to reach the semifinals.


In the semifinals, Landau and Perrigan dominated Sam Chaffin (FGCU) and Stan Goldman (James Madison), 8-3.


Landau is a rising junior and has been one of the top doubles player in the Big South early in his career. He teamed up with Alex Croker at #1 doubles to go 12-8 this season and earn All-Conference honors.
