ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville women's tennis team is home today when the Bulldogs host Big South foe Gardner-Webb at the Asheville Racquet Club downtown starting at 2:30 p.m. Admission is free.
The Bulldogs (6-10, 0-3 BSC) are attempting to win their first league match of the year this afternoon. The Runnin' Bulldogs are 11-8 on the season and 3-4 in league play.
Asheville has been hit hard by injuries throughout the season and right now the Bulldogs top four players in their singles line-up are all freshmen.
Jenna Dodge has posted an 8-6 record in singles play this season as a freshmen. Senior Devon Cavanaugh, despite a back injury, has battled and gone 4-2 in singles play this year.
"We're trying to get better with each match," commented Asheville coach Lise Gregory. "Our team is getting a lot of valuable experience which will only help in the future. We're still looking to make some noise this year before the season is over."
UNC Asheville will host the 2012 Big South Conference Tennis Championships the weekend of April 19-21 at both Asheville Racquet Club locations downtown and in South Asheville.
